Meeting Notice: Fourth Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Meeting

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

On Tuesday, December 3 at 6:30 pm I will convene our fourth Community Advisory Committee working meeting which will be streamed live on YouTube and accessible by phone at a toll-free number 888-475-4499, passcode 512-759-677. Like last time, our CAC members will provide an update on their work within the specific areas for improvement at NYCHA, followed by a discussion. See the agenda here.

Last month, we held a successful community meeting at the West Brighton Community Center on Staten Island (listen here), released our Second Quarterly Report which you can read here, and I approved the Action Plan for the expenditure of $450 million in state reimbursement funds for boiler/heat plant and elevator replacement at 35 developments.

Additionally, I approved the PHAS Action Plan aimed at restoring the integrity of HUD-mandated PHAS inspections. Using deceptive practices such as covering up and hiding conditions and false reporting in the performance of any maintenance and repair work will no longer be tolerated. With this Action Plan, NYCHA has committed to preventing deceptive practices and investigating any such complaints. I encourage anyone who has information about deceptive practices to assist NYCHA in their efforts by filling out this form.

There is much more work to be done. We are working with NYCHA on Action Plans to address mold, lead-based paint, elevators, heat, and waste management and pests, among other issues. And as a reminder, while any Action Plan is being developed, our work on the issue the Action Plan is aimed at addressing continues. So, no work is delayed during the time any Action Plan is negotiated.

Thank you for the work you have done and continue to do. Please check our website for updates.

Very truly yours,

Bart  M. Schwartz
