Manhattan Community Meeting Summary May 11, 2021

On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, via Zoom, NYCHA Federal Monitoring Team Member Joseph Jaffe and Resident Engagement Team Leader, Asha Muldro, hosted a community meeting for Manhattan residents, tenant association presidents, elected officials, and community leaders.

Mr. Jaffe opened the meeting updating attendees on NYCHA’s implementation plan which is part of the organizational transformation plan. He noted that final plans will be successful only if all the stakeholders are involved beyond just being informed. The Monitor is seeking complete resident participation.

Mr. Jaffe also announced that the Monitor has approved the NYCHA Capital Action Plan which outlines how NYCHA will fund capital projects over the next few years.

During the public session of the meeting, Mr. Jaffe, Deputy Monitor Dan Brownell, monitoring team member Dennis Walsh, and Eva Trimble, NYCHA’s executive vice president for strategy and innovation responded to resident comments and questions. NYCHA residents outside of the Manhattan community also participated during the public session.

Ms. Muldro announced upcoming meetings:

  • Community Advisory Committee Meeting – Tuesday, June 8, 2021, 6:00- 8:00 PM. It will be streamed live on the NYCHA Monitor’s YouTube channel.
  • Queens Community Meeting – Tuesday, July 13, 2021, 6:00 – 7:30 PM. Please continue to check the nychamonitor.com website for meeting details.
